National Minimum Wage rates from October 2014

The National Minimum Wage rate per hour depends on your age and whether you’re an apprentice – you must be at least school leaving age to get it. The specified rates are the absolute minimum an employee can (legally) be paid per hour.

The latest figures effective October 2014 are:

Aged 21 and over – £6.50 an hour

Aged 18 to 20 -£5.13 an hour

Aged under 18 – £3.79 an hour

Apprentice* – £2.73 an hour
*This rate is for apprentices aged 16 to 18 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. All other apprentices are entitled to the National Minimum Wage for their age.
